The Story

Jonathan Wolff created the Seinfeld theme's bass synth sound using a Yamaha DX7 synthesizer connected directly to the recording console. The distinctive funky tone was achieved through FM synthesis techniques, utilizing a percussive envelope and square wave to create the dry, punchy attack and solid fundamental that became instantly recognizable. The sound was kept completely dry without reverb or delay effects.
