The Story
This aggressive 7-string tone was recorded using an Ibanez Universe UV777 tuned to A standard, running through a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier amplifier with an Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer for additional saturation. The recording was done at Indigo Ranch Studios in Malibu with producer Ross Robinson and engineer Chuck Johnson, using a close-mic'd Shure SM57 to capture the raw, tight character of the high-gain sound.

Recreation Tips
- Start with a 7-string guitar tuned to A standard to capture the low-end frequencies.
- Use a high-gain amplifier with a tight response, such as a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier.
- Add a distortion pedal, like an Ibanez Tube Screamer, to the amp's front end to further saturate the signal and enhance sustain.
- Experiment with microphone placement on the speaker cabinet to find the sweet spot that captures the desired tonal qualities.
- Use EQ to sculpt the tone, focusing on cutting some of the low-mid frequencies to prevent muddiness, and boosting the high frequencies for clarity.
