The Story

The lead guitar tone on "Stitches" by nervepitch was created using a Strandberg Boden guitar direct into Neural DSP's Archetype: Gojira plugin. The signal was recorded DI into a computer without physical amplification, relying entirely on digital amp simulation and effects processing to achieve the crisp attack and saturated sustain characteristic of the track.

Signal Chain

Instrument: Strandberg Boden

Amp: Neural DSP Archetype: Gojira

Recreation Tips

  • Start with a relatively bright guitar signal, possibly with active pickups or a high-output humbucker.
  • Choose an amp sim known for its high-gain capabilities and tweak it to have a present but not overly muddy low end.
  • Experiment with different amp and cabinet combinations within your chosen amp sim for the best match.
  • Use a precise EQ to carve out any unwanted frequencies and emphasize the clarity and sustain.
  • Consider a touch of compression or limiting to further enhance the sustain and even out the dynamics.
  • Automate parameters to bring the tone alive!
