The Story
Dimebag Darrell's rhythm tone on "Walk" was built around his Dean ML guitar with high-output humbuckers running through a Randall RG100ES solid-state amp head. He used an MXR Zakk Wylde Overdrive (though this pedal naming is anachronistic as it was called something different then) to push the amp's front end, creating additional saturation and sustain. The track was recorded at Pantego Sound Studio with Terry Date producing and engineering, with the guitar sound captured through a Shure SM57 microphone.

Recreation Tips
- Start with a Dean ML-style guitar with high-output humbuckers.
- Use a Randall RG100ES or similar solid-state amp for the core tone.
- Dial in a scooped EQ setting, emphasizing the bass and high-mids while reducing the mid frequencies.
- Add an overdrive pedal like the MXR Zakk Wylde Overdrive to push the amp into further distortion.
- Experiment with a DigiTech Whammy pedal for Dimebag's signature pitch effects.
- Double-track the guitar parts to create a fuller and more powerful sound.
