The Story
Billy Corgan's rhythm guitar tone on 'Zero' was built using a Fender Stratocaster through a Marshall JCM800 amp, with the signal heavily processed by stacked distortion pedals including a Pro Co RAT and Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi. The track was recorded at Pumpkinland studio in Chicago and produced by Flood with Alan Moulder engineering. The characteristic thick, saturated sound comes from layering multiple gain stages and blending direct signals with miked amp signals captured through a Shure SM57.
